英语词汇的复习是十分重要的。如果说语法是英语语言结构的大骨架，那么词汇就是英语语言的血和肉了。有血有肉才能组成有生命的语言。千万不要认为高考试题中没有词汇考查专项，就觉得词汇复习没有必要。岂不知从近几年的高考题看，对学生词汇量的要求越来越高。
高考总词汇量逐年增加，词汇复习的好坏直接影响着学生听力、完形及阅读的成绩。英语的基本词汇据专家统计是736个。而1992年到的十二年高考题中的阅读理解部分，所使用的词汇平均总量大约是724个。
1995年到四年间高考整卷使用的词汇平均总量大概是690个。所以无论高考出什么样的题，总是离不开这些基本的词汇。那什么是基本词汇?
